The Woodlea Hotel is situated in Dumfries and Galloway, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled corners of Scotland. Less than one mile away lies the conservation village of Moniaive. Here you'll find one of the oldest pubs in Scotland, the James Patterson Museum (open summer only), the covenantors memorial and a Swiss style clock house next to what used to be the police station and prison. The village hosts regular folk and comic festivals.More information can be found at Moniaive's own website www.moniaive.com

The spectacular scenery around the Woodlea Hotel is ideal for walking and cycling. Tackle the hills or keep to the glens if you prefer, either way you stand a good chance of meeting some of the local wildlife, including deer, red squirrels and many types of birds of prey.

Other local pastimes include fishing and golf. The Woodlea makes a good base for exploring the local fishing rivers and lochs and the quiet golf courses have spectacular views to enhance your round of golf.
